Legislation and regulations  applying for Svalbard

 
Svalbard is a well managed archipelago with many rules and restrictions. Thus, there are several laws and regulations that you as a researcher need to be familiar with. The most important ones, however not a complete overview, are listed below. The regulations cover diverse topics as tent-pitching, traffic in remote areas, handling animals, collecting samples and insurance procedures. Also notice that different rules apply to residents and visitors and that there are date-dependent restrictions
