The International
Polar Year is a large scientific programme focused on the Arctic and
Antarctic from March 2007 to March 2009. It is the fourth polar year,
following those in 1882-3, 1932-3, and 1957-8 and scientists from a wide
range of research topics participate.
Also in Svalbard, many research activities in
connection with IPY-projects take place. SSF has compiled an overview over
active IPY-projects in Svalbard.

are
under continuous revision due to new funding decisions etc.
